Technology:
Active
Server Pages - Microsoft's technology for web-functionality based on
the Visual Basic programming language. We frequently extend the functionality
of ASP pages through custom and third party components to do things like
manipulate graphics, authorize credit card transactions, or send email.
Visual
Basic - Microsoft's programming language for designing both client
server applications as well as web-based applications. We primarily
use VB for writing custom components and additions for use in Active Server
Pages.
SQL
Server - Microsoft's most robust database. We have SQL server
database servers dedicated and configured for optimum performance and reliability.
The SQL server database is well suited for high volume read and write operations.
Microsoft
Access - Microsoft's desktop "file system" database. Working
with SQL server isn't always necessary when your web is a "read only" application
or has relatively low traffic. Access files are easily transferred
and edited. When the situation permits, working within an
Access database saves time and money, while leaving the door open for migrating
to a larger database in the future. Whenever we develop within Microsoft
Access, we design with ease of expansion in mind.
