I first met Sivakumaran in the field of literature when he did expertly review my English book, 'The Pearly Island &. Other Poems' in Colombo, in 1974. At that time he was working in regular contact with Drs. K. Kailasapathy and K. Sivathamby, and Daily News Editor Mervyn de Silva (who himself wrote a review of my book in his columns later). From that time I too had watched the work and progress of Siva. It appeared to me that he seemed overpowered by the academic 'stature' that Kailas and Sivathamby were wielding at that time. May be, that was one reason, he was outwardly modest to make high claims for his writings. That was one of Siva's noble and uplifting qualities. I believe Mervyn too, readily published the review of my poetry book that Siva wrote at that time. Thus I support Pathivukal editor Giritharan Navaratnam, in his long and thorough research type of article he has published above, on the quality of the many reviews and critical commentaries that the late Mr. K.S. Sivakumaran wrote over the past several decades, internationally. Any university, in my opinion would have seriously considered him for a PhD, had he submitted his works for an academic award. Even now, it is not too late for some interested university to award a posthumous PhD/DLitt so as to honour him. -- Prof. Kopan Mahadeva, 16.9.2022.

I found Giri to be a dedicated writer in Tamil as well as in English, like a bee that never stops collecting honey. For well over a decade he has been running a Web Site (Pathivukal) which each day highlights the works of contemporary Tamil writers from all over the world, including my own. Ours is a friendship built on mutual respect and affection and will continue for ever. Mrs. Navajothy Yogaratnam brought to my notice about the article that she wrote and you have published in your popular website pathivukal.com about me to remember my seventy-fifth birthday year.

I feel grateful to her and to you for the honour. The facts stated in the article will no doubt inspire me to be of greater service to our Tamil language and literature and to  our great Tamil people who are forging ahead and doing their best despite the many problems that have been unjustifyably imposed on them in recent decades.

I am sorry I have not equipped and trained myself to type in Tamil Unicode as yet, although, as you would appreciate, I do write poems and articles in Tamil almost daily using my favourite Bamini, Aabohi and Tamil fonts.

I sent up my latest Short Story two days ago for publication in your Pathivukal. I am sure you received it, but possibly have not had the time to look at it yet.

Also, a few months ago I sent my article on the late Eelam Writer AGASTIAR. For some reason it has not been published so far. His 88th Birthday Anniversary was on 29-08-2014.  It was celebrated in London and France.  Since it was only a few days ago, I think it will be not too late if you publish it even now. I am aware that you are in contact with Agastiar's daughter Navajothy Jokaratnam who also writes in Pathivukal, and that long ago you had published an article on Agastiar by someone else. But I feel it is worth honouring him again. The decision is, of course, YOURS. I will not try unduly to influence your decisions as Editor, but I like some confirmation if you like me to continue sending poems, articles & stories.

Hello Giri,

1. I have started reading my Downloads from your literary works.  I did not realise that your America was only a short     document 0f 3-odd MB.  I have scheduled to read it later.  I started on your four Novels of 11-odd MB.  Last night     I finished the First One, set in Vanni and portrayed Sumanadasa Baas.  It was very gripping. I like that novel. I shall     write again on this matter when I complete reading all of them, maybe in a few weeks time. They are interesting.

2. I attach a PDF of my Comprehensive CV for your information. They deal with much more than my Tamil Writings. I     thought it will be useful to promote our level of acquaintance, since I will be contributing regularly to your Pathivukal.

3. I propose to send to you free PDF Versions of POONTHUNARS: 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2014, each 15-20 MB which were edited and published by me with articles from some 30 Members of our ELAB [Eelavar Literature Academy of Britain] from 2006-2014 in Tamil or in English, consisting of about 1000 published pages, for your leisurely Review.  Of course, my own poems, articles, and plays, and my late wife Dr. Seethadevi's articles are also included therein.

4. We sincerely appreciate the amount of effort and money you are pumping into PATHIVUKAL, which is indeed a great  service to Tamils all over the world, and to Tamil Language and Literature in general.  May God Bless You in this task!

Dear Giri,

I am writing to you today again in English.  I have read all that I downloaded from you.  I enjoyed each and every one of them. They were very interesting.  You do have the knack of telling stories.  You have your individualistic style which is very likeable.

I promised to send to you, PDF versions of our ELAB's Anthologies.  ELAB stands for Eelavar Literature Academy of Britain. My wife (the late) Dr. Seethadevi, myself, and four others founded it in 2006, and have been holding monthly meetings from September 2006 till this year. Mr. Nunaviloor Wijeyaratnam, Yugasarathy S. Karunanandarajah, Dr. Siva Thiagarajah, and 30 others were involved. Each meeting was attended by up to 10 people, and we wrote articles, poems, stories, plays, etc. on pre-determined topics and brought them and read them at our monthly meetings to receive helpful comments from all the others, then polished them up and published the best articles in the form of Anthologies. Thus we published (with myself as the Editor) them under then name of POONTHUNAR (PERCEPTIONS) in 2007 (210 pages), 2010 (312 pages), 2012 (240 pages) and 2014 (176 pages). The articles were mostly in Tamil, but we did not exclude English articles or poems. Hence the books are bilingual -- in Tamil and English, that is, each article is in either Tamil OR English, NOT in both. There are no translations.

I am herewith attaching the PDF version of our 2014 Anthology for you to kindly review it in Pathivukal. Cover pictures are also sent.  I hope you find the time to do it, with all your other work.  Thereafter I will send the others one by one, so that as a Leader of a popular Web Site promoting Tamil Literature, you will have a record of all our creations from 2006-2014. You will realise that our articles are of a world standard (well researched, well written, factual, well edited and printed, etc) and are suitable as background texts for Tamil Schools abroad. You could review All of Them together at some later stage as 'ELAB Literature', like Manikkodi Period, Kalaichchelvi Period, Eelakesari Literature, and so on.

By the way, you are welcome to take any article or poem from the Poonthunar Series and publish them in your Pathivukal. If there are any you specially like to publish in Pathivukal, please send me a list, and I will send them in Unicode Format.

தொகுப்பாசிரியர் தம்பி கிரி, எங்கள் அண்மைக்கால ஈமெயில் பரிமாற்றங்கள் தொடர்பில் எழுதுவது. நான் சில வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னர் மேற்படி நூல்களை பீடீப் உருவில் ஏற்கெனவே உங்களுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டேன் எனும் தப்பான நம்பிக்கை யிலேயே நான் நீங்கள் அவற்றைப்பற்றி ஒரு விமர்சனக் கட்டுரையைப் பதிவிலும் முகநூலிலும் எழுதி வெளியிட முடியுமா எனக் கேட்டு இ இருந்தேன். மன்னிக்கவும். இங்கு நேற்றுப் பரிசீலனை செய்தபோதே நான் உண்மையில் அனுப்ப எண்ணினேன் ஆனால் அனுப்பவில்லை என்பதனை அறிந்தேன். எனவே அவற்றை இன்று இத்துடன் இணைப்புகளாக நான்கு வருடாந்தக் கோப்புகளாக அனுப்புகிறேன்.

அவற்றுள் ஆறு வெளி ஆசிரியர்களின் (எம் நாலில்) முதல் மூன்றின் தமிழ், ஆங்கில விமர்சனங்கள் அடுத்தடுத்த நூல்களில் உள்ளடக்கி உள்ளதைக் காண்பீர்கள்.  இவை உங்கள் முழுமையான விமர்சனத்தை  எழுத மிக்க உதவும் என நம்புகிறேன்.  அந்த நூல்களில் உள்ள படங்கள் எவற்றையும் நீங்கள் உங்கள் விமர்சனத்தில் மறுபிரசுரம் செய்யவும் முடியும். எல்லாம் தங்கள் விருப்பம். இந்தச் சேவையை (உதவியை) மனமுவந்து கூடிய கெதியில் செய்ய வேண்டிய நேர அவகாசம் உமக்குக் கிடைக்கவேண்டும் என ஆண்டவனை வேண்டுகிறேன். நன்றி. வணக்கம்.

Dear Pathivukal Editor Thamby Giri,

I am getting better slowly.  It will take another 3-months for me to come back to my pre-op strength. After that I am likely to really get
stronger and reap the benefits of my operation and live longer and work more productively on the literature front, and publish the new
books I had been planning for the past 10 years. I will continue to help you with Pathivukal more and more, and you can help me too.

I would like to see a Review Article by you in Pathivukal & Facebook at this stage, on my four Poonthunar Books of the ELAB -- Eelavar
Literature Academy of Britain, which were published in 2007-2014. All four books were edited by me. Besides myself and my wife 34
other well known authors and reviewers have written in it, as you can see, on hundreds of topics, in Tamil and also in English. In all
they have 938 pages of published material. We have been keen on maintaining international standards, both in Tamil and in English.
The essays, poems, plays, reviews and research articles were read out at monthly meetings and discussed and then polished up and
compiled and published as Four Anthologies in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2014, of 210, 312, 240 and 176 pages. I have sent PDF copies
to you.  You can browse through and judge for yourself.  I know it will be a stupendous task to read the whole material. But you could maybe
just flip through and present a 'Bird's Eye View' of what you see in those books, from your vast experience. You may also reproduce
any pictures from those books -- even of any of the authors as you like.

Please let me know how you feel about this. Maybe already you have done some reading and thinking on this matter, since I wrote earlier too.

என்னுடைய அண்மையில் எழுதிய புது இரனைக்கவிதையை இத்தால் பிரசுரத்துக்கு ஒரு இணைப்பாக அனுப்புகிறேன். இக்கவிதை முகநூலில் பலரால் போற்றப்பட்டு வருவதை நீர் அவதானித்து இருப்பீர். இக்கவிதை இலங்கையின் இன்றைய நெருக்கடி நிலையில் புதுவழிச் சிந்தனையையும் செயலையும் தூண்டும் வல்லமையுள்ளது என நம்புகிறேன். எனவே நத்தார் தினமாகிய இன்று இரவிரவாய்
அச்சுகோர்த்து அனுப்புகிறேன். இப்போ நத்தார் காலை ஆறரை மணி. கடந்த நான்கு மணித்தியாலங்கள் இருந்து வேலை செய்து உங்கள் வழமையான முறையில் செய்து அனுப்புகிறேன். ஏதும் குறைகள் இருந்தால் அவற்றைத் திருத்திப் போடவும். உமக்கு நேரம் சேமிக்க விரும்பி முடியுமானவரை எல்லாம் பதிவுகளின் மாதிரியைப் பின்பற்றியிருக்கிறேன். எனவே உடனே, இன்றே போடமுடிந்தால்
எனக்கு மிக மனநிறைவாய் இருக்கும். முகநூலில் சந்திப்போம். என் கடைசி இரனைக்கவிதையை இன்று  பதிவுகளில் தேடினேன். காணவில்லை பழய தோம்புக்குள் போய் மறைந்து விட்டதோ தெரியவில்லை.  இது 6-வது இரணைப்பா என்றுதான் என் நினைவு. வணக்கம். திரும்பவும் என் நத்தார் வாழ்த்துக்கள்.
